Condolence: Dad,

I left the following message for you on the 1 year anniversary back on June 28th of this year but it seems to have been deleted. Here is what I posted.

Dad,

A year is passed and the pain still seems fresh. It doesn't seem real and I still feel like I am going to come over and talk to you about work, fishing, and everything else we used to talk about. Every time I come over I feel like something is missing and not quite right. It is a painful reminder of the loss we all suffered and the great person you were in so many people's lives.

We have all started to joke about the many stories we have of you over the years and all the memories we shared as a family. From fishing lures stuck in hands, floppy disks that just magically worked ("Ann the disk is still good"), your lack of patience teaching mom to drive (RIP mailbox), family vacations to Lake George, fishing trips all over, countless birthday parties (the "How old are you now?" addition you had to place at the end of every Happy Birthday song), and so many other items I cannot remember while writing this. We are all so thankful to have these memories because this is how you are going to live on in our hearts and in our minds.

What hurts me most of all is the thought that Hudson is going to grow up without your influence and guidance that I appreciate so much. I was looking forward to you helping me teach him the value of a dollar, the importance of doing a job right, the importance of always getting up when life knocks you down, and above all to love your family because at the end of the day that is all you have. I will try and teach him these things as you taught me and I hope I can measure up to you.

Growing up you always told me (jokingly) that my #1 job was to give you a grandson to pass down the family name. You were so excited when you found out Hudson was going to be born that you went out and bought him a bath toy fishing pole. You went with mom and bought us countless clothes that now seem to have a double meaning ("Thank Heaven for Little Boys"). It added to the frustration and pain that you passed only 6 weeks from the time he would decide to come into this world. He was a little fighter just like the rest of us and I am sure you would be proud to see how he fought from being a little 34 week 3lb 15oz preemie to now being a 11 month old 22lb chunker. He helped the family cope with your loss as he gave us something to smile about and focus our positive attention on.

I would like to thank you again for everything you have done for me over the years. You have shaped me to the man I am today and I hope that for the rest of the time I have on earth I continue to make you proud.

You were a great man and I would give anything to go Long Meadow with you one more time...

Love and miss you

David

Condolence From: Tom Smith
Condolence: I had the honor and pleasure of knowing and working with Dave at Marlin Firearms Co.

I don't think I have ever met a harder working, or more focused man. A fairer or more upright man would be hard to find in today's world.

Dave's world revolved around his wife Ann and his three children. He was extremely proud of his wife and family.

Dave and I attended the same Engineering Design School at the same time, and while we didn't remember each other at that time, we still found we had a lot in common at Marlin.

I thoroughly enjoyed his working company at Marlin, as we interacted and shared our knowledge.

GOD now has a very talanted and dependable Mechanical Engineer to help maintain Heaven, and that will only make Heaven a better place for us all.

Dave will remain in my thoughts as real friend, and one of the nicest people I have ever known or worked with.

I am deeply saddened by his passing.

Rest in Peace my friend. You have done your duty, and done it well..............

Condolence: Dave has been a part of my family for over 45 years, we've been through good times and hard times and he's always been there for me, someone I could count on whenever I needed help, life will not be the same without him being a part of it, it's going to be so hard to say goodbye tomorrow to my "brother", I know he's up there catching that "Big One" that always got away!
