Life Story for Roger E. "Rocky" Miles

OXFORD, CT: Roger E. "Rocky" Miles, age 65 of Oxford entered peaceful rest July 29, 2014 at his home; he was the beloved husband of Donna (Blood) Miles. Roger was born January 2, 1949 in Derby son of the late Rees Miles, Sr. and Bula (Douillet) Miles, and step-son of the late Evelyn (Kriz) Miles. He was a retired Truck Driver with the Timex Corp., Torrington; he also was the owner of the former Rocky's Cafe in Oxford. Roger was a communicant of St. Peter's Episcopal Church, he volunteered with the Oxford Ambulance Corps and was a Firefighter with both Quaker Farms and Oxford Center Fire Companies. Mr. Miles was a decorated U.S. Marine Veteran serving in the Vietnam War; he was awarded the Purple Heart Medal for his bravery; he was a member and Past Commander of the David S. Miles Post 174, American Legion. Rocky was an avid NY Yankees Fan, and he enjoyed fishing and golf. In addition to his wife, Roger leaves a son, Kevin Miles and a daughter, Jennifer Miles both of Oxford, a his brothers, Rees "Butch" Miles, Jr. of Oxford, and a step-brother, George McClusky in Hawaii; his aunt, Edna Smith of Oxford, and several nieces and nephews. His sisters, Barbara Miles and Jeannette Deegan, and his brother Ralph Miles predeceased him. A Memorial Service in celebration of Roger's life will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 421 Oxford Rd., Oxford. Interment with full Military Honors will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery. The Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 W. Church St., Seymour has care of the arrangements.
