Seymour, CT: Richard “Rich” Hopwood, age 43, entered into peaceful rest on November 21, at Griffin Hospital, Derby, with his loved ones by his side after a courageous 3 year battle with cancer. Richard was born July 29, 1972 in Milford, beloved son of Peter and Anne (Schlachter ) Hopwood Sr. Richard was a graduate of Seymour High School in 1991. He was a ten year employee for ATT before he began his business On-Site Systems. He enjoyed cars, radio control helicopters, travel, beach and roller coasters. He was a member of the Ansonia Rod & Gun Club. Rich enjoyed being involved with his sons in Troop 11 Housatonic Council BSA, Boy Scouts of America.
Mr. Hopwood leaves his pride and joy sons, Spencer and Connor Hopwood, Seymour. Brothers, Peter Hopwood, Jr., Nebraska, Frank, Cliff and Gary Kichar all of Seymour. A Sister, Laura Pinero,FL,and his companion, Amber Bjerki, Seymour.
Calling hours will be Tuesday, November 24, from 3:00 to 7:00 pm in the Ralph Hull Funeral Home, 161 West Church Street, Seymour. Everyone is asked to go directly to church for the celebration for Rich’s life on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. in St. Augustine’s Church, 35 Washington Avenue, Seymour. Interment will follow to Mountain Meadow Cemetery, Seymour. Memorial gifts may be sent to the Center for Cancer Care at Griffin Hospital, 350 Seymour Avenue, Derby, CT 06418.
