John A. Nemec, age 74, of Southbury, beloved husband of Barbara (Mancuso) Nemec, entered peaceful rest on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at Griffin Hospital. Born in Bridgeport on December 15, 1941, he was a son of the late John and Sophie (Martinedes) Nemec. A maintenance worker for Moore Special Tools in Bridgeport, Mr. Nemec also joined the Oxford Center Fire Company #1 in 1982, serving as Captain from 1986-1990 and reaching the rank of Chief in 1991. He will be remembered for his love of fishing and hunting, but most importantly as a devoted husband, father and grandfather. In addition to his wife of 54 years, John is survived by his loving children, Michael Nemec and his wife Kristine of Beacon Falls, John Nemec and his wife Carie of Waterbury; brother, Richard Nemec and his wife Rose of Milford; sister, Elaine Paul and her late husband Bob of Fairfield; 3 cherished grandchildren, Jacob, Katie and Nicole, as well as many nieces and nephews. Funeral Services celebrating his life will take place on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the Ralph Hull FH, 161 W. Church St. Seymour, CT 06483. Friends may greet the family from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will follow in Southford Cemetery, Oxford. In lieu of flowers, donations in John’s memory may be made to American Diabetes Association, 1701 North Beauregard St. Alexandria, VA 22311.
