Richard L. Hibbard, age 83, a long time Oxford resident, entered peaceful rest on July 9, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of 60 years to Norma (Tomlinson) Hibbard. Mr. Hibbard was born on March 30, 1933, son of the late Arthur R. and Marjorie (Kelly) Hibbard. Richard was retired after 40 years from the Shipping Department of the Kerite Company, Seymour. He will be fondly remembered as “a loving husband, father, and grandfather who just enjoyed his family”.
In addition to his wife, Richard leaves his loving family, including his daughter, Christine Thayer of Watertown; sons, Dennis Hibbard of Bethlehem, David Hibbard of New Britain, and Richard Hibbard of New Haven; 4 grandchildren, Aaron Thayer and his wife Tina, Elizabeth Daoud, Alexandria Hibbard, and Liam Hibbard; a brother, Eugene Hibbard of Lake Placid, NY, and a sister, Mildred Sartucci of VA.
Family and friends may call Thursday from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 161 W. Church St. Seymour. A Memorial Service in celebration of Richard’s life will immediately follow at 7:00p.m. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
