Barbara Ann Creighton, age 84, of Seymour, beloved wife of Thomas Creighton, entered peaceful rest on Saturday, July 30, 2016 in CT Hospice, Branford. Born in Bridgeport on September 6, 1931, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Helen (Engstrom) Friborg. Barbara graduated in 1954 from the Bridgeport Hospital School of Nursing. As a Registered Nurse she worked at Lord Chamberlain Nursing & Rehab Center in Stratford and Bishop Wicke Health Center in Shelton. She was actively involved as a Troop Leader for the Girl Scouts of America and a member of the Housatonic Girl Scout Council's Oldtimers Association. Barbara was an avid quilter who belonged to the Connecticut Piece Makers Quilt Guild. In addition to her husband of 61 years, survivors include her loving daughter Kathleen Creighton of Seymour; brother, Douglas Friborg of VT; sister, Patricia Budnick of VT; two cherished grandchildren, Audrey and Steven Lenhard, as well as one niece and nephew. Family and friends may gather in her memory on Friday, August 12, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at Mt. Meadows Cemetery (Seymour) for a graveside service. A celebration of life service at the Stratford United Methodist Church, 2600 Main St. Stratford, CT 06615 will take place at a later date. Memorial donations should be made to Connecticut Hospice or the Connecticut Chapter of The Alzheimer’s Association.
