Obituary for Dale Garey Humphrey

Dale Garey Humphrey, age 71 of Beacon Falls, beloved husband of Judie Anderson, entered into peaceful rest on Sunday, April 8, 2018 at 2 p.m. Born in Norwalk on July 12, 1946, Dale was the son of the late Garey Humphrey and Angele (Belair) Firestine and was a proud U.S. Air Force veteran. He was a PGA Golf Professional, working primarily as a teaching professional. He was an assistant pro at the Brooklawn Country Club in Fairfield and head professional at the former Hill and Dale Country Club in Trumbull, and later at Wood Haven Country Club in Bethany. During the winter months he taught at the Fore Seasons Golf facility in Bethany establishing a wonderful junior program that helped high school golfers make their school golf teams. He will be remembered for his love of family. He was a devoted son to his mother and step father, Raymond Firestine, and a beloved grandfather to his grandchildren, Cuyler and Maddie.

In addition to his wife and grandchildren, survivors include his daughter, Sarah Towne and her husband Ted (MD); former wife, Susan Stewart (SC), and one step-brother and one step-sister.

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, April 16, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Ralph Hull Funeral Home, 161 W. Church St. Seymour, CT 06483, and interment with full military honors will follow at 2p.m. in the VA Cemetery, Middletown. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service in the funeral home. Memorial donations in Dale’s name can be made to the First Tee of Connecticut, ASPCA, or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
