Life Story for Shirley Vaivoda (Yocher)

OXFORD, CT: Shirley Vaivoda, 76, Oxford entered peaceful rest September 28, 2013 in Waterbury. She was the beloved wife of the late Edward B “Eddie” Vaivoda Sr. Mrs. Vaivoda was born July 16, 1937 in Derby, daughter of the late George and Anna Yocher. Shirley was a retired farmer of Vaivoda’s Farm. She was a Cartoon Artist, liked being outside, and enjoyed baking, especially pies.

Shirley leaves her loving family including her daughter, Kim Vaivoda, Oxford, three sons, Edward J. Vaivoda, William Vaivoda, and Daniel Vaivoda, all residing in Oxford. Brothers George Yocher, Lawrence Yocher, David Yocher, and Gordon Yocher. One Granddaughter, Kristina Masaitis, 2 great-grandchildren Anayia and Anessa Rivas, several nieces and nephews.

Calling Hours for family and friends will be held, Wednesday from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m in the Ralph Hull Funeral Home, 161 W. Church Street, Seymour, Funeral Services celebrating Shirley’s life will begin with Pastor Gale Grayson, Oxford United Church of Christ, immediately following in the funeral home beginning at 11:30 a.m. Interment will be in Southford Cemetery, Oxford.
