Obituary for Genevieve M. Chernecky (Kazmierski)
Genevieve Mary Chernecky, age 96, passed away on Friday, January 5, 2024 at home in Bethany, Connecticut with her family by her side. She was born on September 2, 1927 in Seymour, Connecticut to Stanislaw “Stanley” and Frances (Lech) Kazmierski.
She was a long time resident of Seymour and attended the Seymour Public Schools. She graduated from Seymour High School in 1945. Over the years, she worked as an Administrative Assistant at the Seymour Furniture Company, Uniroyal, Inc., the Seymour Town Hall and TEAM. In 2021, Genevieve moved to Bethany to live with her daughter and son-in-law.
She is survived by her daughter, MaryAnn Stevens and husband Craig of Bethany, Connecticut; her son, John Chernecky and wife Kim of Clermont, Florida; her brother, John Boshko of Thomaston, Connecticut; seven grandchildren - Kelly (Brian) Caselli, Craig (Cori) Stevens, Katelyn (Ryan) Calabrese, Janice (Brandon) Kleyla, Jennifer Dutton, John (Sarah)Chernecky, Jason (Victoria) Chernecky and ten great-grandchildren - Tyler, Aiden and Aubrey Caselli; Savannah and Charlotte Stevens; Emma, Teagan and Nora Calabrese; Danielle Kleyla and Benjamin Dutton. She was predeceased by her husband, John Chernecky; her brother, Henry Kazmierski and her sister, Wladyslawa “Cora” Kazmierski.
Genevieve enjoyed going on day trips and traveling to places on the East Coast. She had a life long love of reading. She especially enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends. She will always be deeply loved and greatly missed.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Augustine Church in Seymour DIRECTLY on Monday, January 22nd at 11:00 am. A Committal Service will be held privately at a later date. The Ralph E.
