Obituary for Althea Mitchell (Bailey)
Althea M. Mitchell, age 94, beloved wife of the late Robert L. Mitchell, Sr. entered peaceful rest on Thursday, May 23, 2019 in Newtown Rehabilitation Center. Born in Ansonia on June 5, 1924, she was a daughter of the late George and Florence Bailey.
Before devoting her time as a loving mother, Althea worked for the Waterman Bic Company. She was an active member for many years at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, Oxford. Althea loved the beach and vacationing in Cape Cod. She enjoyed going to Atlantic City and will be fondly remembered for her love of tag sales and chocolate.
Survivors include her loving son, Robert Mitchell, Jr. and his wife Kristen of Oxford; 4 adored grandchildren, Robert Mitchell, III and his wife Michelle, Darren, Cayden and Autumn Mitchell; 2 cherished great grandchildren, Madison and Mackenzie, as well as her special niece, Darlene Johns and her husband Alan and their loving family. In addition to her husband, Althea was predeceased by her brother, Donald Bailey.
A Funeral Service of Requiem Eucharist will be held on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 421 Oxford Rd., Oxford. Burial will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery, Oxford. Visitation will be held Tuesday morning from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in The Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 W. Church St., Seymour.
