Obituary for Barbara Conte (Lawry)
BEACON FALLS: Barbara (Lawry) Conte, age 71 of Beacon Falls, beloved wife of Joseph Conte, Sr. entered peaceful rest on Friday, March 25, 2022 in her home surrounded by family. Born in New Haven on November 9, 1950, she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Marie (O’Connor) Lawry.
Barbara loved adventuring and was always up for long drives, spending time at West Haven Beach, and vacationing at Lake George. She loved the holidays and baking Anginette Christmas cookies (especially having her granddaughter add the sprinkles), and having a cup of tea while enjoying great conversations at the kitchen table with friends and family. She had a true passion for helping others and spent many years as a paraprofessional in the Region 16 School District, where she built loving bonds with her students and their families. Many will also know her for the years she spent with her sons in the Beacon Falls Cub Scouts Troop 116. Barbara enjoyed playing puzzles and mind teaser games, and adored the 4 golden retrievers she had throughout her and Joe’s marriage. But above all else, Barbara will be remembered as a loving, selfless mother who was only a phone call away.
In addition to her husband of 35 years, survivors include her adored sons, Joseph Conte Jr. and his wife Kimberly of Woodbury, Michael Conte and his fiancé, Tim Hessert of NY; 2 cherished grandchildren, Olivia and Jacob; many cousins, including Joanne Veillette, whom she considered a sister. Barbara is also survived by her golden retriever, Sadie.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, March 28, 2022 at 10am DIRECTLY in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 733 Oxford Rd. Oxford, CT, 06478 and interment will follow in St. James Cemetery, Naugatuck, CT. The Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 W. Church St., Seymour, CT 06483 has been entrusted with her arrangements.
