Life Story for Betty Ann Giovacchino (Mumley)

Betty Ann Giovacchino (Mumley)
Mrs. Betty Ann (Mumley) Giovacchino, age 68, beloved wife of John Giovacchino of Oxford, passed away peacefully after a long courageous battle with cancer on Friday, May 7, 2010. Betty was born on January 17, 1942 in St. Alburg, Vermont to the late Garmould and Anita (Blair) Mumley. She was a loving wife, mother and “Granster” to her special grandson Alex and devoted herself to making her family feel loved. As an Oxford resident for 48 years, she became involved in the Ladies Auxiliary at Quaker Farms Fire Department where many life-long friendships were formed. She also enjoyed spending time with her special group of friends, the Tea Bags. Betty always had a special way of putting a smile on the faces of the people around her, and making people laugh with the way she told a story. In addition to her devoted husband, John she is survived by three children, John of Seymour, Cynthia of Oxford and Jeff and his wife Deborah of Oxford and her grandson Alex Rushworth and step grandson, Christopher Fourtin. She is also survived by her brothers Joe and his wife Pam of Naugatuck, Eddie and his wife Pat of Southington and David and his wife Tammy of Manchester and her sisters, Evelyn and her husband Richard Bernier of Meriden, Rita Mumley and Barbara and her husband Allan Minnex of Naugatuck and her sister in law, Carol Edwards, her father in law, John and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by sisters, June Paquette, Bernadette Cyr and her brother, Garmould.

Betty was one of the most generous and caring people and will be missed by all who knew her. The Family of Betty would like to express their thanks to the entire oncology team at Yale, led by Dr. Jill Lacy and all of the wonderful nurses, aides and staff who helped Betty thru her illness.
