Charles P. Haas, Jr., age 72 of Bridgeport entered into peaceful rest August 27, 2009 at Bridgeport Hospital; he was the beloved husband of Alba R. (Duran) Haas. Mr. Haas was born June 11, 1937 in Wilkes Barre, PA, son of the late Charles P., Sr. and Angeline (Matalavage) Haas. Charles was a retired Machinist from AVCO formerly in Stratford. He attended the University of Louisville and was a peacetime veteran of the U.S. Army. Charles was an avid sports fan and enjoyed doing woodworking and carpentry. Mr. Haas wil be fondly remembered for his love of family and family gatherings, and especially his jovial sense of humor.

In addition to his wife, Charles leaves his loving family including his daughter, Rebecca Haas of Seymour, his granddaughter, Tanya Ralph of Seymour, a brother, Viril Haas and his wife Loretta in California, a sister, Charmaine Kumiega and her husband John of Milford.

A Memorial Service in celebration of Charles’ life will be Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. ion the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 West Church Street, Seymour. Interment will be in Mountain Meadows Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home also on Wednesday prior to the service from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Memorial gifts may be sent to the American Heart Association.
