Obituary for Charles A. Harrison

PLANTSVILLE, CT: Charles Anthony Harrison, 77 of Plantsville, formerly of Seymour and in Florida entered into peaceful rest September 8, 2008 at New Britain General Hospital; he was the beloved husband of Gladys (Osterhoudt) Harrison. Mr.. Harrison was born August 24, 1931 in Beacon Falls, son of the late Charles L. and Jennie H. (Sledjeski) (Harrison) Neumann, and step-son of Arthur L. Neumann of Seymour. Charles was a retired electrician at the Bridgeport Brass Company, formerly of Seymour. He was also formerly employed as a Lineman with CL & P. Mr. Harrison enjoyed nature, fishing and oil painting, and was an avid reader and NY Giants fan. Charles was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War and had served with the glider division; he was awarded the Purple Heart for Valor.
In addition to his wife and step-father, Charles leaves his loving family including, three daughters, Francine and Jenine Harrison, and Lee Earley all of Wolcott, his granddaughter, Kate Earley of Wolcott, an aunt, Frances Brown of Naugatuck, cousins, Frances and John McAree, Gregory Moelleur, and Kristen and Dane Hassan all of Wolcott, Roy Sledjeski of Bradenton, FL, and several other cousins.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10:00 a.m. in ST. Michael’s Church, 25 Maple Ave., Beacon Falls. Full Military Honors will immediately follow. Interment will be at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Memorial gifts may be sent to the Kate Early Education Fund, c/o Bank of America, 185 Highland Ave., Cheshire, CT 06410. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Ralph E.
