Obituary for Charles Lyons

OXFORD, CT: Charles H. Lyons, age 75 of Great Hill Road, and also of Chidsey Lane, New Milford; entered into rest May 23, 2002 at the New Milford Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Lorraine Stahura Lyons.
Mr. Lyons was born May 7, 1927 in Derby, son of the late Albert and Rosa Marshall Lyons. He resided in Oxford for most of his life. Charles was a retired road foreman for the Town of Oxford for 32 years. He was a WW II Navy Veteran, and a 55 year member and Past Commander of the David S. Miles Post 174 American Legion, Oxford, a member of AMVETS, and the US LST Association. Mr. Lyons was a past 2 term Selectman in Oxford, and was presently serving on the Oxford Elderly Housing Commission. Mr. Lyons enjoyed flying radio-controlled airplanes, and was a member, and current President of the Quaker Farms Radio Flyers Club.
Besides his wife he leaves his loving daughter Marcia Lyons of Oxford. His brother James Lyons predeceased him.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 9:15 am from the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, to St. Thomas the Apostle Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Military Honors will directly follow. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in St. Augustine’s Cemetery.
