Obituary for Donna B. Miles

OXFORD: Donna Lee (Blood) Miles, age 76 of Oxford, entered peaceful rest on Sunday, February 7, 2021 at her home surrounded by family. She was the wife of the late Roger E. Miles. Donna was born in Derby on April 1, 1944 to the late Rupert and Myrill Blood. She was the first of three children; her siblings include Fredrick Blood and his wife Lorraine of Seymour, and the late Holly Fagan. Donna is survived by her children, Kevin and Jennifer, both of Oxford. She also leaves several nieces and nephews, many cousins, and her godsons, Timothy Budnis of Cheshire, Michael Blood of Seymour and Mathew Fagan of Naugatuck.

Donna was a 1962 graduate of Southbury High School and in 1963, she graduated from Valley Academy of Hairdressing in Ansonia. Upon graduation, she worked at the Salon in Bradlees followed by Julia Stone Salon in Seymour. After leaving hairdressing, she worked for Mill House Antiques for 30 years.

Donna was a lifelong member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Oxford. St. Peter’s was very close to her heart where she spent many years as the head of the Altar Guild as well as taking care of the church’s flower beds. She was also a member of the David S. Miles American Legion Auxilary for more than 40 years. Donna enjoyed her time at the Oxford Senior Center where she was a proud member of the “Happy Hookers” crochet group as well as playing bell choir. She was an avid gardner and could often be found in the dirt! She loved going to tag sales and having lunch with her friend Joyce Niestemski.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 421 Oxford Rd. Oxford, CT 06478. Due to COVID-19, all services will be held at a later date. The Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 W. Church St. Seymour, CT 06483 has been entrusted with her arrangements.
