Edward Hope ""Ed Bucks" "Steady Eddy""  Deegan
SEYMOUR: Mr. Edward Hope Deegan, age 74, beloved husband of 56 years to Rosemary (Dube) Deegan of Seymour, passed away on Friday, June 19, 2009 at Griffin Hospital, Derby. He was born on June 14, 1935 in Hartford to the late Edward Leo and Marguerite (Hope) Deegan. He received an associate’s degree from the University of New Haven and was employed as a systems analyst for 25 years for Farrel Corp. in Ansonia and then Phillips Medical Systems in Shelton. He was known to his friends as “Ed Bucks” or “Steady Eddy.” He was an avid sportsman who enjoyed golfing, basketball, baseball and football. He holds the course record of 29 at the former Great Hill Country Club and was the first club champion at the Wood Haven Country Club. He was also the single high scorer for basketball for many years at Seymour High School. He loved his grandchildren and enjoyed watching them play sports. In addition to his devoted wife, Rosemary, he leaves three children, Katherine H. Callini and her husband Michael, Kevin Edward Deegan, and Clare A. Falcha and her husband Joseph and three grandchildren, Sean Scott Deegan, Jamie Hope and Ryan Joseph Falcha all of Seymour. He also leaves two brothers, James Deegan of Florida and Robert Deegan of Texas along several nieces and nephews. His brother, Lawrence Deegan predeceased him. He enjoyed a special bond with his godson, Jonathon Ketz of Rocky Hill. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 23 at 11:45 a.m. at the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 West Church Street, Seymour followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:30 p.m. at Saint Augustine’s Church, Seymour. Interment will be held in private. Family and friends may call on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the George J.
