Obituary for Edward "Big Duck" Dulka

SEYMOUR – Edward J. Dulka, age 74 of Seymour, entered peaceful rest on Thursday, February 1, 2024. Born in Derby on August 17, 1949, he was a son of the late Edward H. and Mary (Slinka) Dulka.

A lifelong resident of Seymour, Edward, better known as “Big Duck”, grew up working on the Slinka Family Farm (Red Clover Farms) and worked as a roofer. He loved working outside in the fields, especially riding on his John Deere tractor. Ed was a graduate of Seymour High School and was co-captain of his football team. A proud US Army Airborne Veteran of the Vietnam War, Ed specialized as a Vietnamese translator in the 4th PSYOP Group, 7th PSYOP BN, Company B, Detachment 2 with the 3rd Marine Division.. He loved his country and was especially thankful to have driven cross country before becoming ill. Ed was able to see the US from coast to coast while visiting his Army friends.

Survivors include his beloved daughter, Kim Warner and her husband Tom of Seymour; brother, David Dulka and his wife Bonnie of SC; niece, Heather Dulka and her husband John Shea of Seymour, nephew, D.J. Dulka and his wife Lisa of NC; godchildren, Daphne and Connor Shea, great-nephews Austin Dulka and Tyler Shea, many cousins, as well as his previous wife and friend, Marilyn Brellis.

Relatives and friends can visit the family from 3pm to 5pm on Sunday, February 4, 2024 in the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 W. Church St. Seymour, CT 06483. Funeral Services will be held on Monday February 5, 2024 at 10am DIRECTLY in Three Saints Russian Orthodox Church, 26 Howard Ave. Ansonia, CT 06401.
