Obituary for Elizabeth "Betty" Hubyk (Kershaw)

Elizabeth "Betty"  Hubyk (Kershaw)
SEYMOUR, CT: Elizabeth “Betty” (Kershaw) Hubyk, age 80 of Seymour entered into peaceful rest March 1, 2009 at the Hewitt Memorial Hospital, Shelton. She was the beloved wife of 59 years to Stephen Hubyk, Sr. Mrs. Hubyk was born December 29, 1928 in Derby, daughter of the late Fred L., Sr. and Freda (DelVeccio) Kershaw. Elizabeth resided in Seymour for most of her life and was retired from First National/ Edwards Supermarkets having worked in Seymour, Ansonia, and Orange. She was a communicant of Trinity Episcopal Church and was a volunteer at the Ansonia Senior Center. Betty was an avid fan of the New York Yankees, UCONN Women’s Basketball Team, and the former New Haven Ravens Baseball Team; she also loved to play bingo.

In addition to her husband, Elizabeth leaves her loving family including her son, Stephen Hubyk, Jr. and his wife Edna of Seymour, and her daughter, Cheryl Klapcik and her husband, John of Ansonia, two brothers, Donald Kershaw of Naugatuck, and Edward Kershaw of Columbus, KA, her sister, Phyllis Puopolo of Shelton, two grandchildren, John Klapcik of Boston, MA, and Krystle Hubyk of Seymour, and several nieces and nephews. Her brother Fred L. Kershaw, Jr. predeceased her.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 9:15 a.m. from the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 West Church Street, Seymour, to Trinity Episcopal Church, 91 Church Street, Seymour for a celebration of Requiem Eucharist at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be in Trinity Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Memorial gifts may be sent to Trinity Episcopal Church.
