Obituary for Ernest Alexander "Ernie" Isberg III

Ernest A. “Ernie” Isberg, III, age 85 of Little River, S.C., and formerly of Seymour, CT, he entered into peaceful rest on December 28, 2022; he was the beloved husband of 38 years to Carol (Boes) Hardy-Isberg. He was born October 15, 1937 in Baltimore, MD, son of the late Ernest A., Jr. and Marie (Mohr) Isberg. Ernie grew up in Swarthmore, PA and was a graduate of the Pennsylvania Military High School, Chester, PA; he then worked for Rohm and Haas in Philadelphia. He later moved to CT and was employed by Sikorsky Aircraft, Stratford where he was employed as a Systems Analyst which he truly loved his work with computers until his retirement. He had also previously worked for L & M Home Improvement in Seymour-he loved working with his hands. Following retirement he and his wife Carol had owned the former Village Photo Hut in Seymour for many years. Ernie was also a volunteer with the Special Olympics through Sikorsky Aircraft. He previously did youth counseling at the Seymour Methodist Church. Ernie and Carol had also owned a cottage in the Pocono Mountains, where Ernie and Carol had done most of the building inside of the home; many fond memories were made there with numerous summer family reunions. Ernie was considered a “jack of all trades, and a master of them all”. Ernie enjoyed playing league softball and bowling, and was an avid golfer, and he had worked for the Crow Creek Golf Course in Little Creek, SC.

In addition to his wife Carol, Ernie leaves his loving family including, his sons, John Isberg (Kim-Elizabeth) and James Isberg (Sharon) both of Oxford, CT, his daughters, Jane M. Hull (Franklyn) of Seymour, CT, and Lynne Lugo (Vincent) of Beacon Falls; a step-daughter, Kim Hardy- Edwards (A.J.) in N.Y., and a step-son, Paul Hardy (Elaine) in NC; A brother Jack Isberg in AZ; also, 19 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren ( he was affectionately known as Papa, Poppy, and Grandpa); and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Elinor Hamilton, a grandson, Kevin Isberg, and a step-son, Christopher Hardy.

Calling Hours are Wednesday Jan. 4, 2023 from 11 AM to 1 PM at the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 W. Church St., Seymour. The Funeral Service in celebration of Ernie’s life will immediately follow at the funeral home at 1 PM. Interment will be private at Northwest Cemetery, Woodbridge, CT.
