Obituary for Frances Wols (Volonis)

SEYMOUR: Frances (Volonis) Wols, age 82 of Seymour, beloved wife of the late Peter C. Wols, Jr., entered peaceful rest on Sunday, May 14, 2023 in St. Raphael Hospital with family by her side. Born in Derby on April 24, 1941, she was a daughter of the late Frank Volonis, Sr. and the late Agnes (Lipka) Musco.

Frances grew up in Derby and was a proud Derby High School graduate and majorette. She worked in a variety of places such as Norden Systems, Amity Cafeteria, Isaacson’s Dept. Store, Special Care Nursing Agency, and Lewis Jewelers, all while taking care of her family as a “stay at home mom”. Frances loved helping people; whether you were looking for a retainer in the garbage after lunch, or looking for a special gift or outfit. She loved making people feel better. Frances adored her family and enjoyed vacation adventures with family and friends. She also loved ice skating, skiing, cross stitch, crocheting, and reading. Frances was a very generous lady, even when battling Parkinson’s disease made these activities and helping others difficult. She will be fondly remembered for her big heart and quiet inner strength.

Survivors include her loving children, Richard Augusto and his wife Sherry, Edward Wols, Peter Wols and his wife Kelly, and Janice Keough and her husband Patrick; 7 adored grandchildren, Ryan, Peter, Dillon, Jillian, Jamie, Kayden and Brody; brother, Frank Volonis; cousin, Joseph Kudrak and his wife Rosemary; loving sister and broher-in-laws, as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, and long-time friends. In addition to her parents and husband, Frances was predeceased by her sisters, Iris Volonis, Judith Taurick, and Joyce Mattutini.

Relatives and friends can visit the family on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 from 4pm to 7pm in the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 W. Church St. Seymour, CT 06483. Services will be held from 9:30 am to 10:30 am in the funeral home on Wednesday, May 24, 2023 and will conclude with a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 11am in the Church of the Good Shepherd (St. Nicholas Parish), Mountain Rd. Seymour. Interment will follow in Mt. Meadows Cemetery, Seymour.
