Obituary for Frederick Joseph Pepe

SOUTHBURY, CT: Frederick Joseph Pepe, age 78 of Southbury, formerly of Seymour, entered into peaceful rest August 23, 2010 at his home; he was the beloved husband of 57 years to Rita (Rondini) Pepe. Mr. Pepe was born January 3, 1932 in Derby, son of the late Frederick and Anna (Kosinski) Pepe. He graduated from Derby High School Class of 1949, and from technical school in Chicago for radio repair, also from Waterbury Technical College in 1965. Mr. Pepe was a veteran of the Army Signal Corps during the Korean War, serving in Germany. Frederick was a Boy Scout leader for Troop 11, Seymour. He worked for 20 years with the Dictaphone Company until the 1970's where he turned to office furniture sales and went on to own Long's Business Interiors in Bridgeport, later retiring from BKM Office Interiors. Like his father before him, Fred also did part-time painting and wallpapering, and served many of the same loyal customers as his father had. Frederick was a dedicated and loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend who shared his passion for golf, running, gardening and his love for life with everyone he met. Fred enjoyed vacationing with his wife, family, and friends on Cape Cod. He will be mostly remembered for his love of spending time with his family and friends, telling a good story, and sharing his extraordinary life with them; he will be missed, but the love and lessons he gave will be carried by those who love him forever.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Pepe leaves his loving family including his son Gregory J. Pepe and his wife Ann Baker Pepe of Hamden, 2 daughters, Candice Kostka and her husband Raymond of Oxford, and Maria VanDerLaan and her husband John of Southbury, and ten grandchildren whom he loved with all his heart, Samuel, Leah, and Clayton Pepe, Clare, Lauren, Christian, and James Kostka, and John, Michael, and Julia VanDerLaan.

A memorial mas of Christian Burial will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 733 Oxford Rd., Oxford; full Military Honors immediately follow. Interment will be private, there are no calling hours. The Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 161 West Church Street, Seymour is entrusted with the arrangements.
