Obituary for George Wityak

SEYMOUR - George Wityak, age 95, passed away peacefully and entered eternal rest on July 14, 2019. A lifelong resident of Seymour, he was a resident of Splitrock Benchmark Senior Living. He was the son of the late Joseph and Antoinette (Weslockey) Wityak born in Seymour on December 3, 1923. He was predeceased by his son Gregory and stepson Wyman. George served in the Marine Corps in World War II as an armorer in VMF-111. His squadron was based in Tarawa, Eniwetok and Kwajalein in 1944. He graduated from the New Haven School of Electronics and worked as a foreman at New Haven Manufacturing for 40 years. George was an active member of American Legion Post 10 of Seymour for 30 years. He is survived by a son; George M. Wityak (Mary Ann), three grandchildren, Ryan, Colin and Marisa of Albuquerque and many nieces and nephews. He leaves behind his long-time companion Doris Raymond and a great many friends. Calling hours will be held on Friday, July 19, 2019 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 W. Church St., Seymour. A Memorial Service will take place on Saturday, July 20, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home and interment with full military honors will follow in Three Saints Cemetery, Seymour.
