Life Story for Gertrude L. Steckert (Rotzal)

SEYMOUR, CT: Gertrude L. Steckert, 88 of Seymour entered peaceful rest August 18, 2013 at Shady Knoll H.C.; she was the beloved wife of the late Albert A. Steckert. Mrs. Steckert was born October 16, 1924 in Derby, daughter of the late Gustav and Bertha (Blank) Rotzal. She was a lifelong communicant of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Oxford, where she was a member and Past President of the Altar Guild. Gertrude enjoyed playing Pinochle, travel, knitting and crocheting, and especially hosting family gatherings.

Mrs. Steckert leaves her loving family including, sons, David Steckert (Carleen) of Laconia, NH, Phillip Steckert (Margo) of Exeter, RI, and Richard Steckert (Debbie) of Oxford, her daughter, Ellen O'Neil (Charles) of Wolcott, her grandchildren, Heidi Carlone, Carl Steckert, Erica Steckert, Melanie Steckert, Russell Steckert, Emily Caruso, Kristin O'Neil, and Keith O'Neil, and great grandchildren, Liam Carlone and Samantha Steckert, and several nieces and nephews. Her siblings, William, Herman, and George Rotzal, and Helen Andres, and Ermgard Drummer predeceased her.

Funeral Services in celebration of Gertrude's life will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Immanuel Lutheran Church, 25 Great Hill Rd., Oxford. Interment will be in Union Cemetery.
