Life Story for Glen Daum

SEYMOUR: Mr. Glen Daum, age 78, beloved husband of Joan (Lakatta) Daum of Seymour, passed away on Tuesday, January 26, 2010 surrounded by his loving family at his home. He was born in Richwood, Ohio on March 15, 1931 the late George and Ruth (Wilson) Daum. Glen served in the US Navy for four years as a Gunners Mate on the USS Gilmore and then later in New London, CT. He worked several years at the Shelton Tack Company and five years as a supernumerary Police Officer with the Seymour Police Department. He later worked at Sikorsky Aircraft as a Security Guard Sergeant where he retired after 32 years. Glen was a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus and also a lifetime member of the American Legion of Oxford, Post # 174. He was also a Past Commander of the American Legion in Ansonia, Post #50. He was an avid UConn Huskies and New England Patriots fan. In additional to his devoted wife of 56 years, Joan he leaves, his three sons, Richard Daum and his wife Norma of Ansonia, Christopher Daum and his fiance Louise of Mississippi and Timothy Daum of Seymour, eleven grandchildren, Christina Busker and her husband, Adam of Hamden, Crystal Daum of Naugatuck, Christopher Root of Shelton, Candice Daum of Ansonia, Elisha Root of Naugatuck, Rocky Daum of Mississippi, Monica Daum of Shelton, Erica Daum of Ansonia Teresa Daum of Naugatuck and April Daum of Shelton. He also leaves five great grandchildren, Adrian Aleksiejczuk, Andrew Zinko, Cole Daum, Joshua Busker and Makayla Popp and many nieces and nephews. His daughter, Janice Daum, his sisters, Edna Lowry of Ohio and Betty Daum of San Diego, his brothers, Bob Daum of San Diego and Fred Daum of Ohio and his twin brother, Gene Daum of San Diego predeceased him. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 30 at 9 a.m. in St. Augustine Church, 35 Washington Avenue, Seymour. Interment to follow with military honors in Mount Saint Peter Cemetery, Derby. Family and friends may call on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Ralph E.
