Obituary for Irene DeGeorge (Michalska)

SEYMOUR, CT: Irene DeGeorge, 93 a longtime resident of Seymour, went home to be with the Lord on February 24, 2022. She was the beloved wife of Woodrow “Woody” DeGeorge . Irene was born January 14, 1929 in Detroit, Michigan, daughter of the late Stanley and Mary (Czszi) Michalska. Irene was a retired Secretary having worked at The S.B. Church Co. in Oxford and later at the Ansonia Typewriter Exchange in Ansonia. She was a Communicant of St. Nicholas Parish-(Saint Augustine’s Church) where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and also was an active participant in their prayer group and she was the organizer of their Prayer Shawl Ministry.

She will be fondly remembered for her love of family which was most important to her. She loved hosting yearly Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve family parties so everyone could gather together.

In addition to her beloved husband Woody of 73 years, Irene leaves her loving family including, her daughters, Rebecca Flaherty of Oxford, Gail Moir (Sheldon) of Seymour, and, her grandchildren, Scott, Kurt (Ashley), and Kevin (Jessica), Stephanie Kulakowski (Derek), Crystal Kirkendol (Troy) and her great grandchildren Lucas, Taylor, and Connor, Brantley, Brooklyn, Kamryn and Emmelyn. She was predeceased by her two sisters Olga Mitchell and Cecilia Sledz who resided in Seymour.

There will be no calling hours. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday March 26, 2022 at 10 A.M. at St. Augustine’s Church, 35 Washington Avenue, Seymour. Interment will be at Mountain Meadows Cemetery. The Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 West Church Street, Seymour is entrusted with the arrangements.
