Irene C. Popowski, age 91, formerly of Oxford, entered into peaceful rest on August 22, 2019 at Masonicare Health Care, Wallingford. She was the beloved wife of the late Stanley Popowski, Sr. Irene was born March 19, 1928 in Derby, to the late Gazey and Anna (Maskaranich) Cipows of Seymour.

She had worked previously at Sponge Rubber Products, and also Uniroyal for many years. Irene had attended services at Cornerstone Church in Oxford. She enjoyed bowIing, playing in several leagues and also loved rose gardening and hummingbirds.

Irene leaves behind her loving family which includes her sons, Stanley Popowski, Jr. of Prospect, CT., David Popowski and his wife Joyce of Knoxville, TN., her daughters, Judith Oliver of Gardner, NC., and Jean Hickman of Southbury, CT. In addition there are also 8 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her brother Henry Cipows, and her son-in-law, Gerald Hickman.

A graveside service in celebration of Irene’s life will be Saturday, August 24th at 10:00 AM at Brookside Cemetery, Oxford. There are no calling hours.
