Obituary for James Joseph Wheeler Sr.

James Joseph Wheeler Sr. (Jay) age 59 entered into eternal rest unexpectedly on Nov. 30, 2022 in his home. Born on December 28, 1962, he was a son of the late Herbert Wheeler and Dora (Renie) Campenelli Wheeler, brother to late Richard Wheeler and was a life long Valley resident.

James was an employee of UPS in Orange, CT. He was always smiling, upbeat, and positive. Family was important to him which was evident by the love he had for his siblings, especially his sister, Nora Wheeler, who was always by his side. His life was complicated at times, which made it hard for the most important people in his life. His children. James Joseph Wheeler Jr. and Victoria Hope Wheeler, were his true treasures and always the most important people in his heart and soul. Jay loved sports and he was a diehard Dallas Cowboys football fan, and Boston Red Sox fan. He shared that love of sports with his son and daughter, playing basketball with both his kids, golfing with his dad and brothers.

Jay coached his son, James Jr., In Derby Pop Warner Football and watched his daughter Victoria cheer for Derby Pop Warner Cheerleading for many years, and his big smile gleamed with pride watching them both. Later that father-son bond would carry on to them watching endless hours of Dallas Cowboy football games, a memory his son will hold in his heart forever.

He is survived by his son James Joseph Wheeler Jr. (J.J.) of Vernon, his daughter Victoria Hope Wheeler of Vernon, his stepdaughter Jessica Joseff of Madison, CT. A Sister Nora Wheeler of Waterbury, CT, Brother Carl Wheeler of Southbury, CT, Brother Timothy Wheeler of Seymour, CT.
