Obituary for Janet Ellen Mayer (Trojanowski)

WATERBURY: Janet Ellen (Trojanowski)Mayer, age 72 of Waterbury, beloved wife of Kirk Mayer, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, December 22, 2022 in her home. Born in Sumter, SC, on November 7, 1950, she was the daughter of the late Lt. Col(ret.) Maurice and Margaret (Quinn) Trojanowski.

She was retired operator of SNET and was a Partner and office manager for the family real estate firm of Trojanowski Agency in Bridgeport for many years. She coordinated the events and people. She also had a nannyship with a local family .She was an avid Mets and Jets fan and loved watching them on TV, as well as he favorite crime documentaries and General Hospital. Janet will be fondly remembered for her infectious laugh, as well as a loving caring person who could become best friends with anyone, even those whom she met for the first time.

Being from a military family after Shaw Field AFB,USAF 20t Fighter Wing she next moved to Mass and Holy Cross College where her father taught ROTC, in 1951. The family lived in Chicopee, as her father was at Westover AFB, the largest Air Reserve Base in the world and back up landing site for the NASA space shuttle. From 1957 to 1959 the family moved to Hofheim, Germany, indsey ir Statio, Wiesbade, Germany, United States Air Force Europe (USAFE) Headquarter in 1959-60. was followed by move to Ramstein AFB, Rastein, Germany in 1959. Headquarter for the United States Air Force in Europe-Africa (USAF).

In addition to her beloved husband, Kirk, of 21 years, survivors include her children, Jamie Yakushewich of Seymour, and Jillian Yakushewich of Watertown; siblings, Marc Trojanowski (Sherre Dampf), David Trojanowski (Sal Catinella), Lynn Trojanowski and Ann Trojanowski; sister-in-law, Dr. Virginia Lee, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Richard Trojanowski and Dr. John Trojanowski.

Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family on Wednesday, December 28, 2022 from 4pm to 7pm in the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 W. Church St. Seymour, CT 06483. Funeral Services will take place on Thursday at 10am in the funeral home with interment to follow in Mt. Meadows Cemetery, Seymour. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Janet’s name can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105, or to the Wounded Warriors Project, PO Box 758516, Topeka, KS 66675-8516.
