Life Story for Joan Kuhlmann (Whatmough)

OXFORD: Mrs. Joan Kuhlmann, age 85, beloved wife of the Reverend Frederick Kuhlmann of Oxford passed away on Monday, June 1, 2009 in Griffin Hospital, Derby. She was born on March 19, 1924 in Preston, Lancashire, England to the late Robert and Suzanna Lavery Whatmough. Mrs. Kuhlmann was a receptionist for 30 years at the Oxford Town Hall. She was a communicant of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, Oxford, where she was very active in all activities and was a former clerk and organist. She was also an avid gardener. In addition to her devoted husband, Mrs. Kuhlmann leaves a daughter, Toni Taret and her husband Michel and three grandchildren, Catherine, Caroline and Nicholas Taret all of Paris, France. Her first husband John Brusble, and two brothers, Clifford and Robert Whatmough predeceased her. A Service of Requiem Eucharist will be celebrated on Thursday, June 4 at 11 a.m. at the Saint Peter’s Episcopal Church, 1 Dutton Road, Oxford. Interment to follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery, Oxford. Family and friends may call on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 West Church Street, Seymour. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, 45 Ash Street, East Hartford, CT 06108.
