Life Story for John Chamenko

SEYMOUR, CT: John Chamenko, 85 of Seymour entered into peaceful rest July 30, 2009 at the West Haven Veteran’s Medical Center; he was the beloved husband of 57 years to Audrey (Philbrick) Chamenko. Mr. Chamenko was born in Seymour on July 7, 1924, son of the late Constantine and Julia (Felenchak) Chamenko, and was a lifelong Seymour resident. John was a retired Manager from the former Klarides Supermarket in Seymour. He was a WW II U.S. Army Veteran serving in the European Theater of Operations, and was awarded two battle stars. John was a member of the Improved Order of Redmen and was Past Sachem; a member and Past Commander of Chapter 14 DAV, a member of VFW Post 5078, and also the Emil Senger, Post 10 American Legion. John was an active communicant of Trinity Episcopal Church, where he served as former Senior and Junior Warden, and member of the Vestry and had served on numerous committees there.

In addition to his wife, John leaves his loving family including his son, Robert Chamenko and his wife Linda, and four grandchildren, Alexandra, Hugh, Kirk, and Ian Chamenko all of Beacon Falls. John’s brothers, Stephan Chamenko and Peter Behuniak, and sisters, Helen Talemal, Ann Dukeley, Evelyn Behuniak, and Mildred Turick all predeceased him.

A Service of Requiem Eucharist in celebration of John’s life will be Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. in Trinity Episcopal Church, 91 Church Street, Seymour. Interment with full Military Honors will be in Trinity Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call on Monday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. ion the Ralph E.
