Obituary for John W. Dana

John Winchester Dana, 85 of Hamden, formerly of Seymour, entered into peaceful rest on April 23, 2022. Mr. Dana was born March 11, 1937 in Derby, son of the late Alan Standish and Edna (Burton) Dana. He served during peacetime in the U.S. Navy and was a member of the Seymour Congregational Church. John was regarded as being highly intelligent, interesting, and had a great appreciation for music with a special fondness for organ music. He was also an accomplished pianist.

John leaves his loving family including his nieces, Deidre Dana of Media, PA, and Debre Dana Maenner of Hershey, PA, and his nephew, Gregory Dana, of Clive, IA. He was predeceased by a brother, Alan Standish Dana, and a step-brother, Richard Dana, also a niece Monique Dana.

A Memorial Service in celebration of John’s life will be held on Monday, July 18th at 10 am at the Seymour Congregational Church. Interment will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, Ansonia. The Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 W. Church St., Seymour, is entrusted with the arrangements.
