Obituary for John K. Mayers

John K. Mayers, 53 of Oxford.

With great sorrow his family shares the passing of John K. Mayers on September 12, 2020. He was the beloved son of Barbara Mayers and step-son of John Giangreco of Oxford; beloved brother of Lisa Hyland (Robert) of Naugatuck, and uncle of Ken Crowther (Ashley) and great uncle of Louis, Eloise, and Joseph of Naugatuck. He was predeceased by his father, Jack Mayers and grandmothers, Sophie Muchisky and Anne Mayers. John will be sadly missed by his loving family including his aunts and uncle especially Pat Grzywacz of Seymour, and Arlene Degnan of Sun City, AZ, and many cousins and friends.

John graduated from Ansonia High School Class of 1985. He worked as a machinist at Frigitronics and Preston Machine Shop. John was a free spirit who made friends easily and loved making people laugh. He loved to play golf and was good at the game; he made a Hole In One while playing at Woodhaven Country Club. John’s passion was playing his guitar, especially “Stairwat to Heaven,”also he loved riding his motorcycle, as well as playing “Blackjack” at Mohegan Sun Casino. John was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers having never missed a game. He had a genuine passion for animals and he especially loved his cat Dooty.

Although our grief is unbearable now, we know our beloved son and brother is in Heaven and with all those who have passed that he loved. John will be missed always…and remain in our hearts until we all meet in Heaven.
