Obituary for Lenny Mercurio

John Leonard “Lenny” Mercurio, age 81 of Trumbull, beloved husband of Rachel (Sullivan) Mercurio, entered peaceful rest on Sunday, September 5, 2021 in Bridgeport Hospital with family by his side. Born in Bridgeport on November 16, 1939, he was a son of the late John and Mary (Zaccaria) Mercurio.

A US Army veteran, Lenny worked as a traffic manager for National Microsales Corp. of Stratford and was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and tending to his garden. He had a passion for antique cars and was a talented wood carver as well as saxophonist. A devoted parishioner and facilities manager for St. Mark Church in Stratford, Lenny was loved by all in his community. But above all else, Lenny enjoyed spending time with family, especially his grandchildren. Those who knew Lenny will remember him for his honest friendship and great generosity.

In addition to his wife of 52 years, survivors include his loving sons, Paul Mercurio and his wife Marta of TX, and Lee Mercurio and his wife Sarah of Stratford; sister, Frances Lesko and her husband Nicholas of Stratford; his two adored grandchildren, Anthony and Leah Mercurio, as well as several nieces and nephews, including Jon Mercurio, Gregory Williams and Jeffrey Williams. Lenny was predeceased by his siblings, Peter Mercurio and Rosemary Williams.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, September 11, 2021 at 11am DIRECTLY in St. Mark Church, 500 Wigwam La., Stratford, CT 06614. Interment will follow in Nichol’s Farm Cemetery, Trumbull. Due to COVID-19, those who wish to attend services are kindly requested to wear face masks. The Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 W. Church St., Seymour, CT 06483 has been entrusted with his services. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorial donations in Lenny’s name to St. Mark Church, Stratford.
