Obituary for Jack Micknak, III

John “Jack” Micknak, III, 71 of Beacon Falls, has entered into peaceful rest on September 26, 2022 at his home with his loving family by his side. Jack was born April 8, 1951 in Derby, son of the late John, Jr., and Anne (Miller) Micknak. Jack was a Graduate of Bullard Havens Technical High School in Bridgeport. He later began his career as a Master Carpenter having worked for Capone Construction and L & M Home Improvement, as well as numerous jobs and projects as a self employed carpenter. He would often say he made a friend on every job. Jack was a member of the Seymour Alumni Athletic Club, the Naugatuck Elks Lodge, a past member of distinction at the Concordia Singing Society, and an honorary lifetime member at the Russian American Club. Jack enjoyed playing golf and had many golf trips with friends over the years. He was a New York Yankee Saturday season ticket holder during the 80’s and 90’s with several of his buddies. Also in the 90’s and beyond he became a huge fan and supporter of SCSU baseball. He spent his entire life in Seymour and Beacon Falls. He was well known to all as honest, hard working, generous, and a trusting friend.

Jack leaves his loving family including his sons, Jack Micknak of Fairfield, Nicholas and Brian Micknak both of Waterbury; his grandchildren, Jake and Lila Micknak both of Fairfield; his uncles, Jack Miller of San Diego, CA and George Miller of Tucson, AZ; an aunt, Gladys Warner of Seymour, and his uncle Don and aunt Betty Micknak of Missoula, MT; he also leaves several first cousins that he cherished and would often get together with for breakfasts. Jack leaves his former wife and first love, Cheryl Micknak of Waterbury; his best friend and caregiver, Judy Brown, and his God Daughter Jillian Brown both of Beacon Falls. In addition to his parents, Jack was predeceased by his brother Jeffrey Micknak.

Calling Hours will be Friday from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 West Church Street, Seymour. A Funeral Service in celebration of Jack’s life will immediately follow at 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be at the convenience of the family at Trinity Cemetery, Seymour.
