Obituary for Joseph P. Giannone

SEYMOUR, CT: Joseph P. Giannone, age 89 of Seymour, formerly of Ansonia entered into peaceful rest on July 22, 2019 at his home with family by his side; he was the beloved husband of Suzanne (O'Callaghan) Giannone. Joseph was born April 5, 1930 in Derby, CT, son of the late Nicola and Teresa (Guagenti) Giannone. He was retired from Emhart, Pop Fastener in Shelton where he was employed as the Drafting Supervisor in charge of Product Engineering. Joseph served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean War; he was also a member of the Emil Senger Post 10 American Legion, Seymour, and also Post 597 Veterans of Foreign Wars, Ansonia. . Mr. Giannone was a graduate of Pine High School, Ansonia and from The Colonial School of Tool Design in Trumbull. He was a first year coach for the Seymour Pop Warner Football program for 10 years, and had also coached and ran Biddy and Bob Cousey Basketball programs in town. Joseph loved the game of golf, and also was an avid fan of UCONN Basketball. He was also a NY Giants fan, and had been an usher for the team when they played at the Yale Bowl. Joe loved God, Family & His Country. His big heart and welcoming smile endeared him to all who knew him!

In addition to his wife, Mr. Giannone leaves his loving family including his sons, Bob Giannone and his wife Dayna of Crested Butte, CO, Jody Giannone and his wife Lauren of Washington, and John Giannone of Seymour; a sister, Bess Pitingoro of Mena, ARK; his granddaughter Lane Giannone of Crested Butte, CO, and several nieces and nephews. His granddaughter Casey Giannone, and brothers, Frank, Salvatore (Sam), and Michael Giannone, all predeceased him.

Calling Hours will be held Saturday from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 West Church Street, Seymour. A Funeral Service in celebration of his life will immediately begin at 1:00 PM in the funeral home. Full Military Honors will take place following the services. Interment will be private.
