Joseph Taruska, Sr., age 86 of Ansonia entered into peaceful rest August 20, 2009 at Midstate Medical Center, Meriden, he was the beloved husband of the late Nellie (Edcanis) Taruska. Mr. Taruska was born in Ansonia on February 15, 1923, and was a lifelong resident there. He was a WW II U.S. Army veteran serving in the European Theater of Operations, and had received the Purple Heart Medal. Joseph was a retired plumber and driver with Kasden Fuel Company. He enjoyed road trips in his car and attending various fairs.

Joseph leaves two sons, John Taruska and his wife Michelle of Ansonia, and Joseph Taruska of Southbury, six grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. His sister Ann Del Lice predeceased him.

A graveside funeral with Full Military Honors will be in Mount Saint Peter Cemetery, Derby on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. There will be no calling hours.
