SEYMOUR, CT: Josephine Colella age 86 of Seymour entered into peaceful rest January 15, 2009 at the Masonic Home, Wallingford; she was the beloved wife of the late Louis J. Colella whom passed away on January 4, 2009. Josephine was born January 21, 1922 in New Haven, daughter of the late Giuseppe and Frances (D’Elia) Canetti. Mr. Colella was a retired Health Aide at the Yale New Haven Hospital. She and her husband resided in West Haven for most of their lives, later moving to Beacon Falls and then Seymour. Josephine will be remembered for playing short stop with the CT Yankees Women’s Softball team in her youth, acknowledging her for playing with the areas first women’s softball leagues . She loved to cook. Josephine and Louis enjoyed square dancing and both performed at the 1964 New York Worlds Fair. In their later years, Louis and Josephine looked forward to their vacations spent in Myrtle Beach, SC. They leave their loving family including their son, Joseph L. Colella of North Branford, a son in law, Anthony San Angelo of Beacon Falls, two grandchildren, Marc San Angelo of Norwalk, and Gina Volpacchio of Seymour, two great grandchildren, Christina and Alexa Volpacchio of Seymour, a brother, Ernest Canetti of Derby, and several nieces and nephews. Their daughter Marie A. San Angelo predeceased them; Josephine was also predeceased by brothers, Gaetano, Adam, and Charlie Canetti, and sisters, Adeline Marra, Sue Mary Donofrio, Victoria Borzillo, and Frances Trintini. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial for both Louis and Josephine will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 24, 2009 in St. Michael’s Church, 25 Maple Avenue, Beacon Falls. Interment will be at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Memorial gifts may be sent to the Marie (Colella) San Angelo Fund of Birmingham Health Services, P.O.
