Obituary

Obituary for Judith Long (Colbert)

SEYMOUR- Judith (Colbert) Long, beloved wife of the late Kenneth Long, passed away on Monday, October 5, 2020 in her home at age 78. She was born in Worcester, MA to the late Russell and Bernice (Sandstrom) Colbert.

She leaves behind her loving children Mark Long and wife Valerie Caso of Woburn, MA, and Kimberly Tupper of Seymour, CT; three cherished grandchildren, Kendra and Austin Tupper, and Mia Long; and her brother Michael Colbert of Arizona. She was predeceased by her sister Maureen Colbert..

Judi spent her childhood in Auburn, MA where she completed her studies at Auburn High School in 1960. She later completed further schooling at Katharine Gibbs, taking after her daughter. While raising her two children in Oxford, CT, she joined the Tupperware® franchise, where she quickly rose to a become Manager of the Tup-A-Longs unit. Judi affectionately became known as “The Tupperware® Lady” of southwestern CT. Eventually she advanced to run her own Tupperware® distributorship—Bright Horizons Sales. During her time in Connecticut, she became a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Olive Chapter, where she attained many positions including Grand Esther.

After moving to Bonita Springs, FL with Ken, she quickly found use for her organizational and communication skills as an accomplished Property Manager at P&M Property Management in Fort Myers, FL until she retired. She and Ken hosted many parties at their home. Judi would always light up the room and made sure everyone felt welcome. She continued to be a dedicated member of the Order of the Eastern Star in the Fort Myers and Naples chapters. Friends and family will always remember Judi for her loving smile and joyous laughter. Some people just seem to go through life making others feel good, that was Judi.

A memorial gathering to celebrate her life and love will be taking place on Saturday October 17, 2020 from 1:00-3:00 in the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 W. Church St., Seymour, CT 06483. Please be aware of the social distancing and mask requirements in place during the visitation.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Harry Chapin Food Bank in Naples, FL www.harrychapinfoodbank.org.

``Judy was my classmate at AHS, beautiful, sparkling eyes and great personality. It is no surprise she graduated from Katherine Gibbs nor handled so many jobs requiring honed interpersonal skills. She certainly left her mark on life and know she will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Peace be with you, Judy
