Obituary for Kelly Marie Harkins

SEYMOUR – Kelly Marie Harkins, age 33 of Seymour, cherished daughter of John “Jack” Harkins, Jr. and his wife Nadia (DiMatteo) Harkins of Seymour, and the late Michele (Crasilli) Jeanetti, entered peaceful rest on Saturday, February 19, 2022 in Griffin Hospital surrounded by family.

Born in Derby on February 28, 1988, Kelly grew up in Seymour and was a bagger at Seymour Stop and Shop. A dedicated worker, Kelly also helped out cleaning at the Seymour Town Hall, Police Dept. and Library. Wherever she went, Kelly was sure to leave a lasting impression and smile on someone’s face. She was an angel and loved singing karaoke, dancing, camping, vacationing in the Bahamas, as well as bowling for the Special Olympics. Ever the fashionista, Kelly loved shopping and posing for pictures. Her smile and the joy she gave to so many people will be greatly missed.

In addition to her parents, survivors include her loving siblings, John Harkins, III and his wife Jen of Clinton, Kaci Harkins of Ansonia, Amanda Harkins of Seymour, Lianna McMurray and her husband Shane of Naugatuck, and Cara Staffieri and her fiancé Chris Elser, Jr. both of Woodbury; nieces and nephews, Sarah, Aeden, Paige, Colton and Austin; aunts and uncles, Gary Harkins Sr. and his wife Barb, Mike Crasilli and his wife Raasheda, Diane Rogers, Kim Rose, Sante DiMatteo and his wife Tracy, and George DiMatteo and his wife Candace, as well as many cousins.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, February 23, 2022 in the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 W. Church St. Seymour, CT 06483 from 4pm to 8pm. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday, February 24, 2022 DIRECTLY at 10am in the Church of the Assumption, 61 North Cliff St. Ansonia, CT 06401. Interment will follow in Mt. St. Peter Cemetery, Derby. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations in Kelly’s name be made to the CT Special Olympics, 2666 State St. Suite 1, Hamden, CT 06517.
