Obituary for Lewis Tucker Sr.

Oxford: Lewis I Tucker, Sr. (“Joe”) Age 86, of Oxford, entered into peaceful rest on Saturday, August 1, 2020 at home, surrounded by his loving family. Joe was married to Shirley Eileen (Brickett) Tucker, his high school sweetheart, for 67 years. Born in Derby on April 20, 1934, he was the son of the late Edward H. and Doris C. (Weidemier) Tucker.

Joe retired from S.B. Church Co, after 42 years of dedicated service as a Senior Well Driller. Joe traveled New England drilling wells, and fell in love with the Greenwood, Maine area. Later he and Shirley built their dream home on a beautiful lake in that area. Joe and Shirley enjoyed many summers there creating memories in the company of their children and grandchildren. Joe was known for his love of softball and was fondly referred to as “coach”. He also loved fishing, hunting, the Green Bay Packers, and Ford trucks. Family and friends will remember him for his sharp wit, resourcefulness, and strong faith. Joe was a long time member of the NRA and had uncompromising patriotic values.

In addition to his wife Shirley, survivors include his 8 loving children, Patricia Vitali (Louis) of VA, Kathleen Goyette (Abraham) of VT, Margaret Lydem (Wayne) of VT, Cindy Lee Markovic (Steven) of VA, Lewis Tucker Jr, (Patricia) of Oxford, Daniel Tucker of VA, William Tucker (Sharon) of FL, and Christopher Tucker (Christine) of Beacon Falls. Joe was a proud grandfather of 19 grandchildren and 30 great- grandchildren. Joe also has 3 siblings, John Tucker of NH, Caryoln Rykowski of Seymour, and Susan Taylor of Beacon Falls. Joe was predeceased by his beloved grandsons, Matthew and Jonathan, 1 great granddaughter Allisa, and his brothers Styles and Robert Tucker. A man larger than life itself, Joe fought his battle with dignity and the help of his loved ones to the very end.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2020 from 12pm to 3pm in the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 W. Church St. Seymour, CT 06483 with a graveside memorial service following in Southford Cemetery, Oxford. Please note that strict social distancing and face covering guidelines will be observed.
