Life Story for Marian Thompson (Miller)

THOMPSON: Marian Miller Thompson, Matriarch of her family, transitioned from this world on Sunday, February 21, 2010. She died in a manner in which she lived, with grace & dignity surrounded by her devoted children and grandchildren. Marion was born on August 12, 1919 in South Wales, UK. A proud citizen of the United States, she resided in the Valley and owned two successful restaurants, Kozy Kitchen in Derby and Chef’s in Seymour. Marion was also employed by the State of CT as a head cook at Laurel Heights and Southbury Training School. Prior to this she graduated with honors from Bullard Haven Technical School’s cooking program and with distinction from The Educational Institute of the American Hotel & Motel Association of New York. Marion was an avid Red Sox fan, a generous donor of multiple charities and a lover of nature. One of her greatest delights was spending time at her son, Jim’s summer home in Maine enjoying the ocean. Left to carry on her independent, strong lifestyle are her four children, son, James Edward Thompson and his wife Linda of Wayland, MA, Daughter, Karen Gail Warycha and her husband Eugene of Oxford, CT, daughter, Nora Ann Meeker and her husband Ricky of Seymour, CT and son, John Alan Thompson of Seattle, Washington. One of eight siblings, Marion was predeceased by her sister, “Babe” and her brother Thomas. A celebration of love & life will be held in the Spring for this Matriarch attended by all her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, in-laws, sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews and friends. Marian will again bring us all together.
