Marjorie Jane Hotchkiss, age 73, of Oxford, beloved wife of Donald Hotchkiss Sr., entered peaceful rest on Saturday, June 13, 2015 in Griffin Hospital. Born in Derby on July 21, 1941, she was a daughter of Wesley Edgar Smith Sr. of Oxford, and the late Mary Elizabeth (Towle) Smith. A VFW Ladies Auxiliary member, Marjorie was a diehard Republican. She enjoyed reading, gardening, crossword puzzles, and was devoted in her religion, worshiping in Ansonia Evangelical Baptist Church. But above all, she loved and adored her grandchildren. In addition to her husband and father, survivors include her loving children; sons, Donald Hotchkiss Jr. and his wife Robin of Oxford, and Keith Hotchkiss and his wife Karen of Oxford; daughters, Terri Scinto and her husband Richard of Sandy Hook, Susan Hotchkiss of Oxford, and Gayle Upson and her husband Robert of VA; 12 cherished grandchildren, Megan Davidson, Donald Hotchkiss III, Lucas Hotchkiss, Timothy Barham, Keith Hotchkiss Jr., Carolanne, Charlotte & Thomas Scinto, Madison Hotchkiss, and Samantha, Kathryn and Kyle Upson. She is also survived by her brother, Wesley Smith Jr. and his wife Barbara of NC, and her sister, Arlene Fanning and her husband George of Oxford, as well many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Shirley Gittings. A Memorial Celebration will take place Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at 7:00 pm in Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 West Church St. Seymour, CT 06483. Relatives and friends may greet the family Tuesday evening from 5:00 pm until the time of services. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
