BRIDGEPORT: Mary T. Collins, age 77, of Bridgeport, entered a peaceful rest on Sunday, February 21, 2021 in Griffin Hospital, Derby. Born in Owensgrove in Grand Bassa County, Liberia, on October 14, 1943. She was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Blendeh Troyah. A retired nurse, Mary was full of compassion. She never hesitated to donate her time or resources whenever asked. A talented seamstress, she would often sew for her family for special occasions. She loved cooking and dancing, but most of all her family. Mary will be fondly remembered for as a dignified woman full of grace. Survivors include her husband, Joseph Z. Collins, Sr. of Ansonia; beloved children, Joseph Z. Collins Jr. and his wife Mariah Natee-Collins of Ansonia, Alfred Collins and his wife Yvonne of W. Haven, Wallace Collins of Liberia, Christian Collins of Ansonia, Juanita Cooper and her husband Emanuel of NC, Blendeh Collins-Smith and her husband Leon of Oxford, Humble Z. Collins of FL, Unity Wiles and her husband Junior of Oxford, and Mardia Collins-McCabe and her husband Kollie of Seymour, and Catherine Breiwick and her husband Aaron of MN; sisters, Annie Dixon of NJ, and Wheatonia Dixon-Barnes of NJ as well as many grandchildren, great-grand., nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service honoring her life will take place Saturday, March 20, 2021 at 10am in Silliman Baptist Church, 1728 Fairfield Ave., Bridgeport, CT 06605. Visitation will be held from 9am until the time of service in the church. Interment will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Ansonia.
