Obituary for Mildred "Millie" A. Jones

NAUGATUCK - Mildred “Millie” Anne (Keliar) Jones, age 80 of Naugatuck, wife of the late William Jones, entered peaceful rest on Friday, January 5, 2024 at St. Mary Hospital, Waterbury. Born in Bridgeport on February 10, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Mildred (Hubina) Keliar.

“Millie” was a retired administrative assistant who worked for Fairfield University and later for the University of Bridgeport. As a young girl, Millie learned to sew from her grandmother and made clothes for her dolls. This hobby later lead to a job in the early 1960’s designing and sewing lingerie with Warnaco, Inc. in Bridgeport. Once she started a family, Millie went on to sew much of their clothing. She picked up knitting and made several sweaters for her children. A type of needlework known as cross-stitching later became a decades long hobby of hers. She gifted her cross-stitched Santa Clauses to many! Millie enjoyed cooking and baking. She had a sweet tooth and loved having a cookie or cupcake while watching evening TV game shows. One of her favorite days of the year was the annual Christmas cookie baking day with her daughter.

Survivors include her children, Deborah Jones of Naugatuck, Gregory Jones and his partner Paul Wiemer of IN, and Glenn Jones and his wife Beth, and cherished grandchildren Patrick and Payton Jones of CA; her brother, Andrew Keliar, as well as her adored chosen family, Gary Hylinski, Jr. and Jillian Celentano.

Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family on Friday, February 23, 2024 from 5pm to 7pm in the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 W. Church St. Seymour, CT 06483. Interment will be at the convenience of the family. For more information or to leave an online condolence, please visit us at www.hullfh.com
