Obituary for Mr. Peter Horbick Sr.

BETHANY – Mr. Peter Horbick, Sr., age 87, beloved husband of 67 years to Ellen Petersen Horbick of Hamden and formerly of Bethany for over 50 years, passed away on October 29, 2008 in the Hospital of Saint Raphael, New Haven.
He was born on March 19, 1921 in New Haven to the late John Horbich and Millie Horbaty. Mr. Horbick was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII and served in the European Theater and a member of the Phantom Army and received Five Battle Stars. He was a monumental and architectural sculptor and master carver. Mr. Horbick was a former commander of the VFW Post 2448 in Bethany. In addition to his devoted wife, he leaves a daughter, Marie Kirk of Concord, NH, two grandchildren, Alexander Kirk of Lebanon, NH, Alison Kirk-Isabelle and her husband, Stephen of Laconia, NH and a great granddaughter, Madeline Jane Isabelle. He is also survived by a brother, Donald Horbaty of Wallingford and several nieces and nephews. His son, Peter Horbick, Jr., a sister, Helen Tracey and a brother, Danny Horbich predeceased him. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 1 at the Veteran’s Memorial Park, Route 42, Bethany at 11 a.m. Interment will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bethany Volunteer Ambulance Fund, Amity Road, Bethany, CT 06524. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ralph E.
