Condolence From: Connie Chronister
Condolence: I met Peter for the first time in June for the War Dog Dedication. I was so honored to meet the man who placed my poem on stone. I feel I lost my best friend. Peter, your dedication for the War Dogs and what you put together came from a heart of gold. Thank you for letting me be a part of that day in June. You will never be forgotten. My deepest sympathy to you Ellen and your family. God Bless and yes he is with "Tommy" who has been waiting by the Gate for him.

Condolence: Peter was a very loving, caring, giving, honest man and I was always proud to call him DAD..His career was very unique and he always said it was just a job that helped him provide for his family...he has left a legacy in stone that will be here for decades to come.
I am also so thankful that Terri Miles got my dad to talk about his WWII experience and chronicled it and dad was able to see it in print.
I LOVE YOU DAD and I know you are with Peter now so I feel peace. Love, Re Re

Condolence: Peter Horbick was my Grandfather and the best one a girl could have- he made everything fun and I have the best memories as a child playing in Bethany and spending time with my Nana and Papa. Best of all it is the memories he has crafted for us in his lifetime that will always allow us to know how fortunate his miraculous presence was with us was. I will miss my Papa but I see him in the fabric of my family, in the miracle of life and in the faith that has been given to me and in all the memories that I hold close to my heart and keep in my minds eye. I have been so blessed to have my Papa in my life and will cherish my time I had with him. I love ya Papa -- your Love Bug........ Ali

Condolence: I was so lucky to meet Mr. Horbick this past August at Giordano's. Mr. Horbick shared many great stories of WWII and the hero dogs that served. He took my address and sent me many articles about the Phanton Army and also the dogs that serviced. My husband and I visited the site he created at VFW in Bethany. I sent him a note thanking him for everything. My own dad served in WWII in the Pacific Theatre. I passed all of his articles to a cousin in New Hampshire and they are getting read and enjoyed by many. I feel honored to have known Mr. Horbick if only for a short period of time. I know you are well-loved by many and will be missed. Susan Wydra

Condolence: Dear Ellen & family,

When I came to Bethany many years ago, I kept bumping into you and Peter at almost every event in town and you were both so welcoming. I always enjoyed talking with you.

Peter helped my husband and I pick out a gravestone and carved out the design that Bob and my son Will had drawn. It was perfect.

When Peter and Pete,Jr. came to the cemetery across the street from my home to repair the stones that were leaning or fallen, they did such a good job and did it with a wonderful sense of caring.

He was a very special person and we will all miss him.

Condolence: Peter was a dear friend for many years. He was a caring soul and no matter what was going on in his life, he always asked about my son, Bob, and my dog, Baron. I will miss you, Peter.
