Obituary for Muriel Colena Sabetta (Sant)

OXFORD, CT: Muriel Colena Sabetta, 95 of Oxford, entered into peaceful rest on April 21, 2022 at her home, surrounded by her cherished family; she was the beloved wife of the late Anthony “Tony” Sabetta. Mrs. Sabetta was born November 2, 1926 in Truro, Cornwall, England, daughter of the late Reginal and Mabel (Davey) Sant. Muriel came to the United States following WW II, and she held the distinction of being the first English War Bride in the Valley upon marrying Tony. She was a former longtime member of Great Hill United Methodist Church, was a member of the Oxford Senior Center, where she made many friends and was part of the “Happy Hookers” crocheting group, was a member Past President of the John H. Collins Post 24, American Legion Auxiliary, where her and Tony spent many happy years serving. Muriel had a love of all animals,she enjoyed doing crafts especially knitting and crocheting, cooking for everyone and anyone andgardening.
Muriel was fiercely independent and strong, she had devilish sense of humor and enjoyed playing pranks. She was a progressive woman, and the women in her family are better for it. She took great pride in her English heritage and was happy to share stories about her life and love with everyone.
Muriel will be greatly missed by her devoted family, especially her daughter June Sabetta and son-in-law Robert “Bob” Neerman, with who she resided with gracefully over the past 2 years. Her Granddaughters Anne Neumann and Beth Roy and their respective families, Mattus Neumann, Macie Jane Neumann, Gregory Neumann, Bill Roy Jr, Isabella Tony Roy and William Roy III. She also had a special bond with her niece Marietta Sabetta who was more like a daughter.
In addition to the above family Muriel leaves her son, Ronald Sabetta and his wife Toni of Gainesville, FLA.; her daughter Patricia Kubiszewski of CO.; seven grandchildren, several great, and great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Her sisters, Phyllis Hinson, and Mae Freear predeceased her.
Calling Hours will be Tuesday from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 West Church Street, Seymour. A Funeral Service in celebration of Muriel’s life will immediately follow at the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at Great Hill Cemetery, Seymour.
