O’Dell, Murriel W. (Bryant) Formerly of Seymour CT, Mrs. O’Dell peacefully entered into eternal rest with her loving family by her side at Village Crest Health Center, New Milford on February 27, 2009 after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Born in New Brunswick, Canada on November 17, 1921 she was the daughter of the late Calvin and Jean (Palmer) Bryant.
Murriel thoroughly enjoyed life, taking pleasure from spending time with her family and many friends. A snowbird with her husband they travelled south in the winter and north in the summer. An avid bingo player, she loved to crochet and knit afghans for her family and friends, and tending her prized African violets, Christmas cactus and many other plants.
Mrs. O’Dell leaves her loving family including her brother Marcus Bryant and his wife Jean of Portsmouth, NE, her son Richard and his wife Susan of New Milford, her daughter-in-law Roberta O’Dell of Southbury, and her beloved grandchildren Christine Troia and her husband Dan of Oxford, Richard O’Dell, Jr. and Myra Rhode of New Milford, Scott O’Dell of Southbury, Troy O’Dell and his wife Christine of Maine, Cindy Markus and her husband Joe of Waterbury, Michael O’Dell of Naugatuck, Ashley Barnes and her husband Jeb of Maine. As well as her cherished great-grandchildren Aaron and Lauren Troia, Cheryl Johnson, Michael Markus, Casden and Jessie O’Dell, Jason Barnes and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She is predeceased by her loving husband of 54 years, Alton M. O’Dell (March 10, 1992), her son Stephen D. O’Dell (November 25, 2003) and her sisters Iva Hyatt, Lottie Gala, and Jean Bukofsky.
Private funeral services will be held at Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 West Church Street, Seymour with the Rev. Dominic J. Valla officiating. Internment will be in Great Hill Cemetery in Seymour.
