Seymour, CT: Norman T. Heavens, age 80 of Seymour entered into peaceful rest April 26, 2009 at the Griffin Hospital, Derby; he was the beloved husband of the late Dorothy (Bennard) Heavens. Mr. Heavens was born October 30, 1928 in Derby, son of the late Henry and Elsie (Robinson) Heavens. Norman was a retired machinist from the former Seymour Specialty Wire Company in Seymour, and was formerly employed by Sponge Rubber Products formerly of Shelton, and also at the Griffin Hospital. Mr. Heavens resided in Seymour for the past thirty eight years, and was a former resident of both Shelton and Ansonia. He was a member of the Seymour Land Conservation Trust and he enjoyed fishing, gardening and yard work. Norman leaves his loving family including two daughters, Deborah D’Amico and her husband Loomis, and Diane Barna and her husband Gregory all of Seymour, his son, Norman Heavens, Jr. of Hollywood, CA, a brother, Howard Heavens of Waterbury, a sister, Jane Heavens of San Diego, CA, six grandchildren, Gary Heavens, Russell Safford, Brandi D’Amico, Loomis D’Amico, III, Zachary Barna, and Andrew Barna, and six great grandchildren. His daughter, Donna Heavens Safford, brothers, Bill and Alfred, and sister, Jeanette predeceased him. A funeral service in celebration of Norman’s life will be Thursday at 6:00 p.m. in the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 West Church Street, Seymour. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in Trinity Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home also on Thursday prior to the service from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be sent to the Seymour Land Conservation Trust, 13 Chatfield St., Seymour, CT 06483.
